HK (1)

So here we go!! I'm sitting at Gate A28 here in the Atlanta Hartsfield Airport, anxiously waiting to go half way across the world. I'm going to Hong Kong for the next 2 1/2 weeks, not knowing exactly what is going to happen. My friends and family have asked me, "what exactly are you going to be doing over there? Is this a mission trip or something? Who are you going with?" Up to now I have simply responded with:

I'm just going to live life for a few weeks over there.

That response has been met with a variety of responses like:

"Wow, that's crazy!"
"Really? For 2 1/2 weeks? Just going to Hong Kong to hang out?"
"I'm so jealous!"
"(The blank expression of some ones face that just says 'shocking')"
"What do your parents think?"
"I'm so excited for you"
"Going back to the motherland, eh?"

Truly, I'm just going to live life for a few weeks over there. Not really going to be doing any 'mission' work per se but I guess really just going and hopefully going to be hanging out with some Chinese college students for a few weeks. You know awhile back on this blog, I was writing about some life experiences about faith, and really I was (and still) just learning about what it looks like to walk in faith, and I guess that a lot of the times, God doesn't just speak plainly to us, like a booming audible voice from the sky. But more than often, He asks us to just begin to walk in obedience and He speaks to us in our obedience. Not to say that He doesn't speak to us in our disobedience, but isn't it interesting that when we are walking in obedience to Him, that we begin to live in the Spirit. All that to say is that, for the past semester I had been praying that this Christmas Break, would be something that was fruitful. Something that didn't consist of me just sitting at home, watching tv, getting up late, playing xbox. But really something that was fruitful. Something that means something to the Kingdom, you know?

So as I was praying through this, this opportunity opened up. The opportunity to go to Hong Kong. Now just like with any decision in life, you are met with a dilemma of either going left or right, yes or no, open or close... And this is where that spill above comes into play, God doesn't always just give us a clear answer, "LEFT!" or "DOOR CLOSED!"... you know what I mean. Obviously this consists of prayer and seeking His will, and more than often He will lead you (if you allow Him). He has asked us not to just sit and be paralyzed by these options, but to begin to walk toward one or the other in faith that He is God.

So I began to walk toward this door (Hong Kong). Seeking Him, asking Him that He would close this door if it were not for His glory. If this trip was laced with selfishness, pride, fear that he would close those doors!

Well, I successfully took to long to write this blog, so by the time that I begin writing again it will be day 2... so stay tuned? Even though it will only look like a 2 hour gap...
