Accountability
John. You will be held accountable for every scripture you have ever read, every podcast you have listened to, every sermon you have seen, based around this truth: 'Be a doer of the Word, and not just a hearer, you are deceiving yourself if you just hear'. [Definitely recognize: John 1.16 as you read this... if you don't have your bible look it up]Sanctification
But as David Platt questioned, 'Are you are a receiver or a reproducer [of the Word]? Or are you just stuffing your soul with self-help morales so that you can feel better about yourself? Who are you living for? Who are you imparting the image/character of Christ to? Your holiness has a direct effect on others perspective of Christ (1 Thess 3.8). May you live for the sanctification of others. That Christ might continue to sanctify them, through you, and thus continuing His ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinth 5.18-19).
Worship
"For worship to be acceptable to God, you MUST be renewed after the image of Him that created you. That image MUST be restored. ONLY the renewed man can worship God in a way worthy of and acceptable to Him...No man can worship out of his own heart... He cannot worship out of his own heart. ONly the Holy Spirit can worship God acceptably , and He must in us reflect back to God His own glory. If it does not reach our hearts, there is no reflecting and no worship" A.W. Tozer 'Purpose of Man'
More thoughts on this:
1. This book has been an answer to prayer, in searching for a book on worship
2. I talked about this to Michael a couple of days ago, and hopefully I can recreate what I said.
Romans 8.26. (look it up in your bible, don't just read this)
As it talks about in that verse, The Holy Spirit intercedes for us, on our behalf, in our prayers. You have kept realizing this over the past 2 semesters or so, "The worship (music) that we/I make is terrible" Meaning, God deserves so much more, higher quality, higher everything, than anything you could ever give Him, right? And it would only be fitting, that the Holy Spirit (Himself) intercede for us in our worship. Because if you are honest, like you were saying earlier, your music sucks in comparison to the worship He deserves. So, if you believe, that the Holy Spirit resides inside in you (Ephesians 3.20), then wouldn't it make sense that the Holy Spirit would be worshiping the Father (Himself) through you?
Looking at the final day of Judgement, the Father will look at the redeemed. He will see not their flesh, their sin, their faults, but He will see the finished work of Christ in them. Or reworded: in the end, the Father will see himself in His redeemed. He is glorified, because He see's himself in messed up people. Note: He still see's people, but He see's Himself (far more important). Likewise, in worship. When He see's us, He see's the finished work of Christ. He receives the Holy Spirit (Himself) in worship coming out of us. It's as if, the Holy Spirit is worshiping through us. It's as if the Holy Spirit is worshiping through us back to the Father. Amen.
