What if? What if my parents had not provided the means the food that I needed to survive? What about for you? What if your parents had decided or didn't have the means for you to have the food that you needed when you were younger?
[And the LORD said to Moses, "I have heard the grumbling of the people of Israel. Say to them, 'At twilight you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread. Then you shall know that I am the LORD your God.'"] (Exodus 16.11-12)
Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life, whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst" (John 6.35)
I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that odes not bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. ABIDE in me, and I in you, As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you , unless you abide in me. (John 15.1-4).
God has provided for us. He has provided our physical needs and our spiritual needs (namely: Jesus Christ). He also has told us that those who are withering from the vine He will cut off and throw them in the fire to burn.
This is the image that I received:
[Hunger that continues because there is no food to eat becomes malnutrition, a torturous physiological experience that affects all of the body's most important functions and makes children desperate enough to eat anything they can find. Malnutrition is a disease. If a growing child cannot get the food he needs, his body will soon begin to waste. Over a longer period the child's growth will be permanently stunted... Severe malnutrition devastates the nervous system, the mind loses its ability to reason and the child withdraws. As the condition worsens, the body becomes unable to maintain normal temperature, blood pressure or pulse rate. The heartbeat becomes faint. Sores appear that do not heal, bones break that do not mend and extremities swell noticeably. Diarrhea, generally accompanied by bleeding from the intestines, appears. These are signs of the advanced protein deficiency called kwashiorkor.] (Growing Up Empty, Loretta Shwartz-Nobel)
This is what I think could be you and me if we fail to abide in Him. My body going to waste. My mind losing its ability to go back to Him. Me withdrawing from Him. My condition will continually worsen. My pulse rate and blood pressure fluctuate. My HEARTBEAT becomes faint, etc. What a scary thought. A fearful thought.
But I know that He continually calls me. He is continually calling you. Jesus has come that we might have life. That we might have bread (Jesus). That we might have hope. That we might trust in Him in and all things.
