Musical Studies.

So some interesting stuff to be remembered about....

So toward the end of last semester I was really praying into what it looks like for me to pursue interests, desires, and passions. If you've read any of my blogs, you might notice (or not) that I am kind of in to music (meaning, I like music a lot). So, I've been wondering what it looks like for me to pursue that interests/desire(?). And the Lord has provided some amazing opportunities for me to really express that part of my life. On top of leading off and on Wednesday Nights for the college ministry I'm apart of, some friends and I have been playing music together. What started out as jam sessions has been turning into some awesome worship nights.

It started out like this: I decided to call just about all the friends that I knew that were musically talented and had an interest toward music and invite them to come over one night to jam out. We had two guitars, a banjo, and a cajon (pronounce kahone).

Something that I find really frustrating/liberating is that when I'm worshipping in the Spirit, I tend to forget the melody that comes to me when 'I'm making-up lyrics'. But it's also very liberating because I know that it's not of me. Meaning, the lyrics are from Him and not from me. Meaning, it's His song playing through me. This may sound arrogant, but I truly believe that some of the lyrics that 'i come up with' definitely come from Him. I know because they (in my opinion) are so creative.

Some worship that came up last night:

(Song 1)
Three days in a grave
One day on a tree
Three days in a grave
Has set me free

It doesn't end there
He's coming back
It doesn't end there
He's coming back to marry me

(Song 2)
Women come down from the mountain
Women come down from the mountain
You're looking for something to drink
You're looking for something to drink

I'm right in front of you
I'm right in front of you
You search the scriptures
But I'm right in front of you

(Song 3)
Don't you want grace on your lips
Don't you want mercy on your heart
Don't you want Jesus on your mind
Be crucified

(Song 4)
I'm a saint I'm a saint
I'm a saint I'm a saint

(Song 5)
Shalome rest on you
Shalome rest on you
Shalome rest on you
Shalome rest on you
